Welcome back to another instilment from the Exterior Inspiration Series! Looking back, I haven’t done one of these since March of last year so I’m super excited to be getting back into it.

I’ve been wanting to feature mountain lodge styled homes for a while now, and given that we just made our way out of one of the worst cold snaps of my life (we’re talking lows nearing the -50C mark), I thought it was the perfect time to pull this post together. I initialy started out intending to feature the more rustic style mountain cabins that you’d expect to see in southern Alberta, Montana, and Colorado, but very quickly stumbled upon these modern, pre-dominately Nordic styled homes and I just couldn’t get enough. The simple, minimalist structure. The usage of natural materials that could have easily made these homes feel ‘country rustic’ but instead, they look refined and sophisticated. The incorporation of oversized windows and stunning window walls and finally, the outdoor spaces that blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment. Set against a rugged backdrop, these homes truely feel like works of art.

And so, the rustic North American mountain lodges will have to wait for another day, today is all about the Nordic style mountain retreats. Hope you enjoy!
