The Cutest Holiday Houses to Inspire You This Christmas

So I’ve had a huge realization this month.

About a year ago now, I was just a few weeks pregnant and aside from feeling pretty gross (as one does during their first trimester), I was also pretty excited about the idea of Christmas with a kid. Growing up, Christmas was hands down my favorite holiday. My Dad was a forester and so over the summer he’d scope out the perfect tree and we’d come back and cut down in December. We’d decorate it as a family and every year my brother would insist on grouping a set of 4 penguin ornaments together front and center which drove the designer in me crazy because I felt they should be evenly spaced around the tree. Mom made homemade pizza for dinner Christmas Eve and on Christmas morning, it was presents first and then breakfast. I loved how pretty the house looked when it was decorated. I loved how the house smelt while Dad was cooking the turkey dressing. I loved afternoon snacks. Basically, I loved everything my parents did that made the holiday feel special.

Which brings me to my huge realization: If I want Theo to love Christmas as much as I did, I’ve got to put in a lot of work to make that happen. At 5 months old, he won’t remember anything this year so I’m considering this my practice run to perfect the treats, figure out what decorations I’m missing (we have next to nothing), and finally figure out how to cook a turkey. I feel like all I’ve done over the past two weeks is prep for the big day but honestly, I’ve really been enjoying it.

Anyway with that said, Christmas is obviously very much on my mind these days so today I thought I would get a head start on planning my exterior decorations for next year by rounding up some of my favorite holiday houses. I hope you find some inspiration here as well. Happy scrolling!
